Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! (Romans 1:7)
Chartered in 1987, Joy Lutheran Church is the “youngest” congregation of the Evangelical Luthran Church in America (ELCA) in Tulsa, OK. Within the ELCA, Joy Lutheran is one of the 58 congregations that comprise the Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod.
Members of Joy are of all ages and live throughout the entire Tulsa metropolitan area. As a Christian community: |
We
worship and praise God with joy and thanksgiving.
We offer welcoming, liturgical
worship experiences centered on Word and Sacrament.
Holy Communion is celebrated at each service on Sunday morning;
all who believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the elements
are welcome to commune.
We
actively learn and teach God’s word.
As Lutherans, we believe
that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authoritative
source and norm of our Church’s proclamation, faith,
and life. Therefore, Joy offers educational programs
for all ages that strengthen our faith and increase understanding
of how God would have us live. We are currently participating
in the ELCA's Book of Faith initiative - to learn more,
check out the website
and join one of our small group Bible
Studies.
We
gladly witness and serve people in our congregation and
throughout the world.
Joy is connected with
other Christians in Tulsa and throughout the world.
We are a part of Trinity
Ministries in Tulsa, and financially support other Tulsa
area ministries such as John 3:16, West Side Children and
Family Services and the Center for Counseling and Education.
In 2003, Joy hosted youth from Palestine, and in 2006, we
hosted Devis
and Ellica, youth from Rwanda. Through the Arkansas-Oklahoma
Synod, we are in relationship with the Lutheran
Church in Great Britain, the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Tanzania-Morogoro Diocese, and
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mozambique.
We identify, develop, and celebrate the wondrous gifts God gives us. As Children of God, we have all received spiritual gifts that we endeavor to use inside and outside the community of Joy Lutheran Church. Each year, we pledge to prayerfully commit gifts of time, talent, and other resources to further the love of God in the world. There is always room to share your gifts and talents at Joy, so don’t be shy, share what God has given you!
Finally, if you have comments or questions, please click on the “Contact Us” link or call the church office at (918)-299-3292. We cordially invite you to join us at Joy as we celebrate and share the love of Jesus Christ.
God’s Peace and Blessings be with you!
